The College is Accepting Students for Fall 2023 Enrollment at the Santa Fe Campus Application & Fall Schedule Available Soon
Southwest Acupuncture College (SWAC) and its following programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM):
- (1)Master of Acupuncture [formerly named Master of Science in Acupuncture]
- (2) Master of Acupuncture with a Chinese herbal medicine specialization [formerly named Master of Science in Oriental Medicine]
SWAC notified ACAHM on 17 July 2021 of its intent to cease enrolling new students, initiate a teach-out plan, and close the institution in August 2023. SWAC initiated an ACAHMapproved teach-out plan for all currently enrolled students at both its Santa Fe, NM and Boulder, CO campuses.
SWAC notified ACAHM on 30 March 2023 of its intent to enter into a Change of Ownership/Control for the Santa Fe, NM campus and subsequently requested recission of their decision to close the institution in August 2023. The teach-out for currently enrolled students at the Boulder, CO campus will be completed by 31 August 2023 and the Boulder campus will be closed.
Subject to additional reporting described below, ACAHM has agreed to the request to rescind the institutional closure and accept the request to complete the current teach-out and close the Boulder, CO campus no later than August 31, 2023.
Given the changes since 17 July 2021, the institution is required to submit to ACAHM a Supplemental Information Report demonstrating continued compliance with ACAHM standards. Pending Commission review of that report the institution has been placed on a Warning Sanction and is required to fully disclose the transitional nature of their current accredited status.

ACAHM is recognized by the United States Department of Education as the specialized accreditation agency for institutions/programs preparing acupuncture practitioners. This information is reported by the College annually and posted publicly by IPEDS via the link provided here for each campus. Notice of this disclosure is provided to enrolled students annually. Hard copy of this data will be provided by the College upon written request to enrolled students.
